Me and Nuri Bala, is a film on Esmeray – a feminist activist who shatters many categories on womanhood and manhood in Turkey. The film is a personal quest to understand her experience, what defines a certain gender- a body and a place one belongs to. From the streets of Istanbul to the Eastern villages of Kars, the film takes us back and forth between the longing for belonging and the realties that shape our identities.
